Sometimes, a single product line might have multiple variations, such as different sizes, colours, or quality grades. Instead of creating an entirely new product profile for each minor difference, you can easily add Variants to an existing product.
💡 Why Add Variants?
Defining your variants upfront saves time and ensures data consistency across your supply chain. When you or your partners begin inputting transactional data later on, such as logging inbound Deliveries, managing Items, or creating Purchase Orders, the variants you define here will automatically appear as a selectable dropdown list. This allows you to quickly and accurately specify exactly which version of a product is moving through your network without having to manually type out the details every time.
Add Variants
Select a Product: From your main Products list, click directly on the name of the product you want to add variants to.
Navigate to Variants: In the left-hand navigation bar of the product details panel, click the Variants icon (the second icon down, resembling overlapping shapes).
Initiate New Entry: Click the + Add button located in the top right corner of the Variants panel.
Define the Variant: An Add product variant pop-up will appear. Fill in the specifics for this variation:
User defined ID: You can manually check this box to input an internal ID (optional).
Description: Enter a clear description of the variant, such as its colour, size, or grade.
SKU: Enter the specific Stock Keeping Unit code for this variant. This is an optional field.
Save the Variant: Click the green Save button to finalise the entry.
Confirmation: A green confirmation message reading Product variant created will appear in the bottom left corner. The new variant will now be listed in the table. You can hover over this entry at any time to edit, duplicate, or delete it.
