Related Products

In many supply chains, products are transformed. Raw materials become semi-finished goods, which then become final products. The Related products feature allows you to map these physical transformations, specifying exactly what a product is made from and what it is eventually used to create.

šŸ’” Why is this helpful for EUDR Compliance?

For complex or manufactured goods, EUDR compliance requires you to trace the final product all the way back to the exact plots of land where the raw materials were harvested.

By mapping "Related Products" here at the profile level, you are essentially creating a master recipe. When you later record a processing activity (like turning logs into lumber), the platform uses these predefined relationships to automatically link the upstream geolocation data to your downstream finished goods. Mapping this once saves you from having to manually prove the chain of custody every single time a product is manufactured.

Real-World Examples:

  • Created from (Upstream): If you are managing a profile for "Paper Pulp", you would set its Created from relationship to "Wood Chips".

  • Used in (Downstream): If you are managing a profile for "Sawn Timber", you might set its Used in relationship to "Wooden Chairs" or "Table Frames".

Add Related Products

  1. Navigate to Related Products: From your main Products list, click on the name of the product you want to manage. In the left-hand navigation bar of the details panel, click the Related products icon (the fourth icon down, resembling a connected 3D cube).

  2. Enter Edit Mode: Click the Edit button located in the top right corner of the panel.

  3. Define Upstream Ingredients ("Created from"): By default, you will be on the Created from tab. This is where you specify the upstream items used to manufacture your current product.

    • Look at the Add products panel on the right side of the screen.

    • Click the + (plus) icon next to the relevant product. A green Relation added message will confirm it is linked.

  4. Define Downstream Products ("Used in"): Next, click the Used in tab. This is where you specify what your current product is eventually turned into downstream.

    • Find the resulting product in the right-hand list and click its + icon to link it.

  5. Save Relationships: Once you have mapped the necessary relationships, click the Done button in the top right corner.

  6. Review the Visual Flowchart: The system will automatically generate a visual, linear flowchart displaying the transformation chain you just built, giving you a clear view of the product's lifecycle.

Detach a Related Product

If a manufacturing process changes or you linked a product by mistake, you can easily sever the connection.

  1. Enter Edit Mode: Ensure you are in Edit mode within the Related products panel.

  2. Locate the Link: Navigate to the appropriate tab (Created from or Used in) where the linked product is currently listed.

  3. Select the Product: Check the box immediately to the left of the product you wish to unlink.

  4. Detach: Once selected, a green button with an X icon (the Detach button) will appear below the list. Click this button.

  5. Confirmation: A green confirmation message reading Record detached will appear in the bottom left corner, and the product will be removed from both the list and the visual flowchart.
